In this conversation, Dr. Amishi Jha will unpack how the brain's attention system works – and how it is involved in our mental and emotional health and wellbeing. She will reveal why attention is so powerful, yet vulnerable to stress, threat, poor mood, and uncertainty. She will also discuss how to train attention to improve our sense of wellbeing, performance, and connection.

Dr. Amishi Jha
Amishi Jha is a neuroscientist, professor of psychology at the University of Miami, and author of a forthcoming book Peak Mind (2021, Harper One) on the new science of attention. Her research focuses on the brain bases of attention, working memory, and mindfulness-based training. With grants from the U.S. Department of Defense and several private foundations, her current projects investigate how to best promote resilience in high stress cohorts, using contemplative/mind training techniques that strengthen the brain’s attention networks. In addition to her own research publications, her work has been featured at TED.com, The World Economic Forum, NATO, The New York Academy of Sciences, The Aspen Institute, and The Pentagon.
